SYRACUSE, NY (NCC News) - The Syracuse Invitational Sporthorse Tournament began at 8:00 a.m. Thursday at the Oncenter Complex.

450 horses are participating in the tournament that will run from today through Sunday.

Preparations began last week

Forty workers began transforming the ice rink after the Syracuse Crunch game last Friday night.

Accoring to Danielle Goss, the Oncenter's Director of Operations, workers took posession of the ice at 10 p.m. Saturday night.

"We covered it, removed the dashers, the glass, the nets, the bleachers," Goss said.

The horse show arrived in Syracuse on Sunday and took posession of the arena that afternoon.

Syracuse Crunch relocated

Workers waited until the Crunch's home game ended last Saturday night to take over their arena. However, the Crunch had to relocate their practice this past week.

According to Goss, the Crunch have been practicing at an ice rink in Cicero.

The Crunch will return to War Memorial arena on November 12 for practice. Their next homegame is the following day against the Hershey Bears.
